The new studio at 2BS / B-Rock in Bathurst has been dedicated in memory of former Engineer, Bob Upfold.
The dedication was made by Member for Bathurst, Paul Toole on Tuesday, June 13 on the seventh anniversary of Bob’s passing.
Bob started his broadcasting career with 2BS (his only employer) at the age of 15 and after 50 years of excellence in broadcasting he retired at the end of 2001.
Initially keen on the programming side of the business, Bob soon gravitated to the technical and engineering aspects of the business.
Bob saw many technological advances during his career; from 78 records and wire recorders, to tape and cartridge machines, LP and 45 records to CD Jukebox’s and computer based program delivery systems.
In 2002, Bob’s efforts were acknowledged when he won the prestigious Australia wide Max Wilson Technical Excellence Award.
Bob had a number of technical trainees including his two sons Peter and Frazer, David Cox, Phil Cole, Michael Fitzpatrick and Jason Davis.
For more than 20 years the Bob Upfold Award has been presented to the 2BS / B-Rock Employee of the Month.
